Our top three tips in choosing a Migration Agent

If you want to attract international talent to Australia or if you’re an individual stay, live or work in Australia, then make sure to take time to choose the right Migration Agent to help you to achieve your Australian dream.

Here are our top tips:

It’s easy to check if a Migration Agent has much experience – just check their Migration Agent Registration Number (MARN). The first two digits indicate the year in which the agent became qualified to start practicing immigration consultancy, so this provides you with some insight into their experience. For example, if their MARN is 0100185, then they qualified in 2001. That’s a lot of experience! If they qualified in 2018, then they been practising as a registered immigration agent since then.

Take a look at the Department of Home Affairs website and you’ll see that there are a lot of visa options. When we were writing this web page, there were 16 different types of visitor visas to choose from, 44 work visa options, 37 partner or family visa options… and the list goes on and the legislation is regularly updated. When choosing your Migration Agent, you’ll want to know what visas do they specialise in, how many successful applications have they had this year and when did they last submit a similar application? You’ll want to know that they are up-to-date with the latest legislative changes. By answering these questions, you’ll soon know if they have the right experience to help you achieve a successful visa outcome.

There’s a lot of administration and follow up behind your visa application and you’ll want to ensure your application is progressing and everything is being done to ensure a successful outcome. When we submit a visa application, we don’t rest on our laurels because things change. We keep an eye on approvals and trends. We monitor further requests for information from the Department of Home Affairs, because these requests often mean a change in philosophy in application assessment and we want to ensure every application we have supported will address this changing landscape.
