Exemptions announced for International Graduates

International graduates who have completed their study in South Australia and narrowly missed out on fulfilling the necessary criteria could still be eligible for state nomination thanks to new exemption considerations.

Immigration SA announced the news recently, claiming factors that would be taken into account would include:

  • Commitment to South Australia
  • Length of employment and residency in South Australia
  • Exceptional achievement in field of study or employment

Immigration SA also provided several examples where considerations would be taken into consideration, naming unsatisfactory IELTS scores and work experience requirements as two requirements in particular which could potentially be waived for the right applicant.

However also stressed was the fact that each case would be assessed on an individual basis, and that all applicants who only just fell short of fulfilling the necessary criterion should be encouraged to apply.

Migration Solutions can also reveal that we have successfully assisted two clients with an exemption, and have several others currently being processed for consideration.

Any international graduates who feel that they may be eligible for an exemption are encouraged to contact Migration Solutions and arrange a consultation in order to discuss their options.

Graduates are also reminded that a positive skills assessment along with an occupation currently on the State Nominated Occupations List is required in order to apply.
