Migrants looking to arrange a medical examination from July may need to double-check their bookings, as the Department of Immigration and Border Protection undergoes a changeover in its medical services provider.
Bupa Medical Visa Services will take over from Medibank Health Solutions as Australia’s onshore visa and migration medical services provider from 28 July, following the expiration of the current contract.
- The change means that migrants looking to book an onshore health assessment after 28 July will need to contact Bupa instead of Medibank to arrange an appointment.
- Those looking to book an appointment prior to 28 July should continue to contact Medibank Health Solutions for questions or arrangement details.
- Clients that have lodged an assessment with Medibank prior to 25 July are advised to contact Bupa Medical Visa Services to enable the medical assessments to be finalised.
The contract covers all of the services previously undertaken by Medibank, including onshore medical services, and other visa and migration services currently undertaken by the department.
The changeover will not affect the current medical assessment fee structure for clients.
Bupa is claiming to offer a number of service enhancements for clients, which will purportedly improve assessment quality and efficiency.
